Investigation into fatal collision on N-322
According to The Olive Press, British equestrian Scott Brash, 40, was formally placed under investigation for manslaughter after his Audi Q3 collided with a motorcycle in Valencia province last week. The incident occurred at around 19:45 on Thursday in Oliva, on a section of the N-322 road where U-turns are prohibited.
The motorcyclist, a 20-year-old Spanish man, died at the scene. Brash and his passenger, Sira Martínez—daughter of PSG coach Luis Enrique—were unhurt. Toxicological tests on Brash proved negative for both drugs and alcohol, according to reports.
Authorities believe Brash attempted to make a prohibited U-turn on that section of road. Martínez, 26, is also a professional equestrian and has competed internationally. The couple are known to be in a romantic relationship.
Brash is considered one of the greatest jumping riders of his generation. He won Olympic gold medals at London 2012 and Paris 2024. In 2015, he made sporting history by completing the Rolex Grand Slam in Jumping, winning three of the world's most prestigious Grand Prix events consecutively. He is from Peebles, Scotland.
Martínez is the second child of Luis Enrique, after her older brother Pacho. The youngest child in the family, Xana, died in 2019 aged nine from a rare form of bone cancer. To date, Martínez has not made any public statement about the accident.
