Five arrested in anti-drug operation with one detained in Fraga
The Organic Unit of Judicial Police of the Guardia Civil Command of Ourense has dismantled a criminal organisation dedicated to drug trafficking, according to eldiariodehuesca.com. The operation was carried out in coordination with the Operational Unit of Customs Surveillance (AEAT) and the Provincial Brigade of Judicial Police of the National Police of Ourense.
Within the framework of operations Platevo Ou and Manucho, initiated in early 2025 following the detection of criminal activities in the province of Ourense, five people were arrested at different points across the country: one in the city of Ourense, another in Seixalbo, another in Fraga (Huesca) and two in Valdemoro (Madrid).
The organisation collected the drug at ports, stored it and distributed it throughout the country using vehicles with modified hidden compartments, known as "caletas". In one of those vehicles, 36 kilograms of cocaine were seized.
During the phase of home searches, officers acted in five properties located in Seixalbo, Allariz, Ourense city, Aldea del Fresno (Madrid) and Valdemoro (Madrid). In the searches, a firearm and several rucksacks used for transporting drugs by sea were seized.
The operation continues a previous intervention carried out on 30 May in Asturias, where 6.5 kilograms of cocaine had been seized and two members of the same network had been arrested. The detention on 9 September 2026 took place after a drug supply trip was completed, destined for another criminal group operating in that autonomous community.
The investigation is being directed by the Instructional Section of the Court of First Instance number 3 of Ourense.
