Drunk driver in Mallorca remanded in prison following death of 23-year-old passenger
A 35-year-old driver was remanded in preventive custody following a fatal accident on the Manacor-Porto Cristo road. A 23-year-old woman died when the vehicle lost control.

A 35-year-old driver was remanded in preventive custody after appearing on Wednesday before the Manacor court, according to reports by Majorca Daily Bulletin. The man faces charges of involuntary manslaughter, two counts of causing injury and a traffic safety violation.
The victim, a 23-year-old woman, was travelling in the rear seat of the Volkswagen Lupo driven by the accused. She died when the driver lost control of the vehicle and collided with a tree on the Manacor-Porto Cristo road, shortly before midnight on Sunday.
The Guardia Civil arrested the driver after testing positive in a breath alcohol test. The driver himself suffered only minor injuries; the car was completely destroyed.
Investigators consider driver distraction to have been the principal cause of the accident.
