Operation against cocaine laboratory in Granada
Officers from the National Police have dismantled a clandestine centre dedicated to the extraction, processing and adulteration of cocaine in the Granada municipality of Alhendín. According to cope.es, the operation resulted in three arrests for drug trafficking offences, membership of a criminal organisation and unlawful possession of weapons.
The investigation began when officers from the Superior Police Headquarters of the Murcia Region identified a chemical expert who provided services to various criminal organisations throughout the country. The specialist stockpiled products to produce a cutting substance that allowed profits to triple through direct sales.
The investigation, coordinated between the Superior Headquarters of Murcia, Granada and the General Judicial Police Commissariat, located a rural property used as a clandestine facility. The premises featured sophisticated video surveillance, frequency jammers and a drone for aerial surveillance and protection against theft by rival organisations.
The search was carried out with the participation of the GOES units from Málaga and Seville and the UPR of Granada. More than 16 kilogrammes of cocaine were seized, a Glock 17 pistol with 80 nine-millimetre cartridges, a taser and a ten-tonne hydraulic press. Police also seized nine containers of chemical precursors and hydrochloric acid, dismantling a key supply point for narcotics in the province.
After being brought before the judicial authorities, the judge ordered provisional imprisonment for two of those arrested. With this operation, an important drug distribution network that was operating in southern mainland Spain has been dismantled.
