Drug network dismantled in Vallecas following months of police surveillance
Madrid's Municipal Police closed an operation against three drug-houses connected in Puente de Vallecas, arresting four people and securing 800 marijuana plants.

Operation Granda II: drug network dismantled in Vallecas
According to epe.es, between March 2025 and February 2026 Madrid's Municipal Police carried out Operation Granda II, which concluded with the dismantling of three drug-houses located in the Portazgo and Palomeras Bajas areas in the Puente de Vallecas district. Officers entered all three properties simultaneously following months of intensive surveillance, which included more than thirty control devices to map the structure of the network.
The operation resulted in four arrests and two individuals under investigation. Officers seized 800 marijuana plants, small quantities of hashish and cocaine, and three firearms with ammunition. The operation dismantled a family gang that distributed sales, reloading and drug cultivation functions among the flats.
Investigators identified that each property played a specific role within the operation: two housed indoor marijuana cultivation that supplied the network, whilst the third functioned as a distribution centre. This specialisation made it possible to fragment responsibilities and hinder identification of the structure by authorities. Simultaneous coordination at all three locations was essential to interrupt the supply circuit.
The assessment presented this week by Inma Sanz, the Madrid City Council's delegate for Security and Emergencies, included Granda II among the year's most notable operations in terms of drug trafficking. Sanz underlined during a visit to the integral police station in Puente de Vallecas that these interventions require prolonged investigations, with exhaustive surveillance to attribute specific crimes to those responsible. She highlighted that many operations stem from information from neighbours, supplemented with preventive patrols and tutoring officers in school environments, with collaboration from the National Police and the courts.
During the same visit, the City Council also presented Operation Raca, concluded in February, focused on a flat that supplied sellers in the San Diego neighbourhood. There was one arrest, with seizure of cocaine, heroin and 10,000 euros. In this case, the flat functioned exclusively as a supply point for street dealers.
A third operation, carried out on 18 September, arose differently: municipal police officers observed two men removing heat-sealed bags from a property to load them into a vehicle. That suspicious manoeuvre led to arrests and subsequently to a judicial search. Officers found 17 kilograms of cocaine, more than half a kilogram of 'tusi', 377 grams of MDMA and approximately 48 grams of ketamine. This property functioned as a logistics storage and drug distribution centre at wholesale level.
The 17 kilograms of cocaine seized in this latest operation represent 94 per cent of the 18.1 kilograms total confiscated in all interventions in drug-houses during the year in Madrid. Material found in the different operations includes heat-sealing machines, precision scales, grinding and pressing apparatus, dosing machines and indoor cultivation installations. The cash secured totals approximately 85,000 euros, in addition to confiscated documentation.
Weapons constitute a recurring risk in these operations. In the total of 35 properties intervened in the year, the Municipal Police located ten firearms, 20 large bladed weapons, two tasers and one electric knuckle duster. In Operation Granda II specifically, the searches made it possible to remove three firearms and ammunition from circulation.
