Woman arrested with 120 grammes of hashish and 91 tablets attempting to enter Mansilla prison
A 26-year-old woman was arrested this weekend whilst attempting to bring hashish and tranquillisers into Mansilla de las Mulas prison in León.
Arrested at Mansilla prison visit with concealed drugs
The Civil Guard detained a 26-year-old woman this past weekend as she attempted to introduce narcotics and psychotropic substances into Mansilla de las Mulas Penitentiary Centre in the province of León. According to ABC, the operation falls within the framework of a collaboration agreement between the Civil Guard and Prison Institutions to prevent drug trafficking inside penitentiary centres.
The arrest occurred during an identification and selective search operation of visitors. A dog from the Prison Canine Unit, specialised in drug detection and guided by a prison officer, repeatedly indicated the woman as she came to visit a family member who is an inmate.
Given the animal's persistent behaviour, officers proceeded to search the visitor. The search revealed approximately 120 grammes of hashish and 91 tranquilliser tablets, a controlled-use anxiolytic.
The Civil Guard opened the corresponding proceedings and placed the detainee, along with the seized substances, at the disposal of the Legal Proceedings Section of the Number Five District Court of León.
