Man arrested with 25 kilos of methamphetamine on Valencia's A-7 motorway after running out of fuel
An Algerian citizen was arrested on the A-7 motorway as it passes through Valencia after being stranded on the hard shoulder without fuel. Guardia Civil found over 25 kilos of synthetic drug in the boot of the hire vehicle.

A man of Algerian origin was arrested on Thursday 10 September on the A-7 motorway, as it passes through Valencia's municipal area, after running out of fuel whilst carrying over 25 kilograms of methamphetamine in the boot of his hire car, according to lasprovincias.es.
A Guardia Civil Traffic patrol detected the vehicle parked improperly between the hard shoulder and the verge of the fast road and stopped to check what had happened. The driver, the sole occupant of the car, was a middle-aged man whose behaviour aroused suspicion among the officers.
Upon searching the vehicle, the Guardia Civil found a large number of bags containing synthetic drug in the boot. The total weight exceeded 25 kilos, with an estimated market value of around 1.5 million euros.
The arrested man was brought before a judge in Valencia. After exercising his right not to make a statement, the judge ordered his remand in custody without bail. Guardia Civil confirmed that he had accumulated thirteen previous convictions, although none of them related to drug trafficking.
He remains in custody for an aggravated offence against public health, both due to the quantity of substance seized and the type of narcotic, classified as causing serious damage to health. The drug was seized in its entirety.
Investigators are now working to determine the origin of the shipment and locate those responsible for the operation. According to information gathered by lasprovincias.es, the detainee allegedly acted as a simple courier, responsible for transporting the merchandise from one point to another, and forgot to refuel before embarking on the journey.
This same week, in a separate operation, Guardia Civil dismantled a criminal organisation in Valencia dedicated to national and international trafficking of designer drugs. The five detainees—three men and two women—had sent over 172 kilograms of narcotics via postal parcels to destinations throughout the national territory and to 45 countries.
