Man arrested in Chiva with cocaine, cannabis and .22 calibre pen guns at patron saint festival
The Guardia Civil arrested a 62-year-old Spanish man at the patron saint festival of Chiva after discovering drugs and weapons hidden in a rucksack.

The Guardia Civil detained a 62-year-old Spanish national on 17 August in the car park of a leisure venue in Chiva, according to cadenaser.com. The arrest took place during the patron saint festival of the Valencian town.
A patrol on duty in the vicinity of the venue observed the man behaving suspiciously. As the officers approached, the subject threw a rucksack behind a parked vehicle.
Inside the rucksack, the Guardia Civil officers found almost 20 grams of cocaine, approximately 100 grams of cannabis, several MDMA tablets, 140 euros in cash and a loaded pen gun capable of firing .22 calibre ammunition.
During his arrest, the man resisted and struggled with the officers. A Guardia Civil officer was injured and subsequently received medical attention at a health centre.
A search of the detainee's belongings revealed vehicle keys. After searching the car in the presence of the detainee and his lawyer, officers found a second pen gun and additional .22 calibre ammunition. In total, three rounds of that calibre were seized.
The detainee faces charges of offences against public health, unlawful possession of weapons and serious resistance to law enforcement. The proceedings were forwarded to the Civil and Investigative Section of the Requena Court, court number 02.
The operation was carried out by officers from Chiva's Main Station.
