Arrest for assault on minor
According to El Confidencial, the National Police arrested the owner of a food shop in Palma after hitting a teenager with an iron bar, whom he accused of having stolen from his establishment. The incident occurred last Tuesday in the Son Gotleu neighbourhood, when a patrol unit went to the shop following activation of the alarm button.
A member of staff at the premises informed officers that two people—a young man and a woman—had entered the establishment and allegedly took items. During the initial investigation, a man burst in in a highly agitated state who hurled insults and threats at the employee, including the threat to set fire to the shop with him inside. Officers identified the individual as the father of the teenager allegedly assaulted.
The teenager was referred to a medical centre after receiving a blow to the head with an iron bar, according to information provided by the National Police. The owner, of Pakistani origin, was located minutes later on nearby streets. During his arrest, he admitted to the facts but claimed that the victim had also assaulted him. He was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a bodily harm offence.
