Driver wanted for two years captured

The Guardia Civil arrested a resident of Carballeda de Avia, aged 32, on 7 October after two years of evading justice. According to laregion.es, there was an outstanding court order for his immediate imprisonment issued by the Criminal Division of Pontevedra, as well as two other search and arrest warrants from the courts in Ribadavia.

The arrested man's criminal record includes more than 25 traffic offences. He accumulated serious driving violations for reckless driving and drove on multiple occasions without any points remaining on his licence. He had systematically fled police checkpoints over the previous twenty-four months.

Officers located him driving a car in Carballeda de Avia and began following him towards the Pontevedra municipality of A Cañiza. There they intercepted the vehicle. The driver abandoned the car and attempted to escape on foot, but after a brief pursuit was arrested. He actively resisted during a struggle with the officers.

During a search of the vehicle, officers found five packets of what is believed to be cocaine, a piece of cannabis and 500 euros in notes of various denominations. The new criminal proceedings for possession of controlled substances are added to his outstanding legal matters.
