Suspect in the killing of a woman found dead in Leganés arrested in Alicante
The National Police have arrested a 35-year-old man in Alicante province as the suspected perpetrator of the death of his partner, a 34-year-old woman whose body was discovered last Saturday in a property in Leganés, according to canalsur.es.
The victim's father raised the alarm. According to the Madrid Superior Police Headquarters, the man called 091 at around 15:15 on Saturday after finding his daughter dead in her home, which he accessed with his own keys when he had not heard from her. The body presented multiple stab wounds. Police sources consulted do not rule out that the woman may have been murdered days before the body was found.
Investigators identified the suspected perpetrator within less than 24 hours: the victim's partner, who had fled to Alicante. Officers from Madrid's Homicide Group VI travelled there and, working with the Violent Crime Group of the local Provincial Judicial Police Brigade, proceeded with his arrest. The detainee will be placed at the disposal of the judicial authority. Police sources have clarified to EFE that there were no previous complaints between the couple.
The victim is the second woman murdered that same Saturday in the Madrid region. That same day, an 85-year-old man was arrested for the violent death of his ex-daughter-in-law, aged 47.
In a separate case occurring on Monday, the Mossos d'Esquadra arrested a 47-year-old man in Els Pallaresos, Tarragona, accused of deliberately running down his ex-partner with a vehicle. The woman is hospitalised in a serious condition, according to Catalan police.
