Man arrested in Benidorm for homicide of Brazilian partner

The victim, a woman of approximately 33 years old, was found buried in a rural area between Benidorm and Finestrat. Two additional men were arrested on suspicion of collaborating in covering up the crime.
The three detainees, aged 30, 40 and 45, were identified following a protocol activated when two men presented themselves at Benidorm Police Station on Monday. They reported that they knew the main suspect, who allegedly confessed to having "ended his partner's life during an argument, using a knife".
After receiving this information, officers visited the home of the alleged perpetrator and confirmed the facts. According to the police, in view of the threats allegedly made by the detainee, the other two men collaborated in moving the victim's body to the rural area. Shortly afterwards, the alleged perpetrator was captured. Subsequently, the other two men were arrested. According to initial inquiries, the detainee carried out the homicide at his home and then attempted to dispose of the body with the help of his accomplices.
The police have clarified that both the accused and the victim are of Brazilian origin. There were no previous records of gender-based violence between the two. The Government Delegation against Gender Violence is gathering information on the case to confirm its classification as a gender-based violence murder.
Investigators continue to work on officially identifying the victim and fully clarifying the facts. The three detainees will be brought before the duty investigation courts in Benidorm in the coming hours.
