Man arrested in Bermeo after ten kilos of drugs found in his home
A 48-year-old man with a police record was detained on Thursday in Bermeo, according to deia.eus, accused of an alleged offence against public health after approximately ten kilos of narcotics were seized from him.
The investigation was led by the Ertzaintza police station in Gernika, under the Basque Government's Department of Security, as part of an operation against drug trafficking. Officers identified a flat being used as a drug dealing point and established various surveillance operations over the following months.
During that period it was observed that regular users accessed the property for brief intervals. When intercepted upon leaving, it was confirmed that they had just purchased speed and cocaine, among other illegal substances.
On Thursday morning, with prior judicial authorisation, officers carried out a search and entry into the flat. The operation resulted in the seizure of approximately 8 kilos of hashish, 1.3 kilos of cannabis, 350 grammes of amphetamine sulphate, approximately 150 grammes of methamphetamine and around 100 grammes of cocaine. Scales and tools for the manipulation of the substances were also seized, as well as cash.
The detainee was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a drug trafficking offence.
