The Guardia Civil of Navarre detained a 33-year-old man as the alleged perpetrator of two attempted robbery offences, according to noticiasdenavarra.com. The incidents took place in the early hours inside a wine cellar located in the municipality of Cadreita.
The operation began after an alert was received about a possible power cut affecting facilities in the town. Upon arriving at the scene, a Local Police patrol found a vehicle in the vicinity with open doors, both front windows smashed and the acoustic alarm activated.
During a review of the perimeter and access points to the building, officers located a person inside the wine cellar. The man initially claimed to be an employee of the establishment and refused to open the door, adopting an evasive attitude. When the patrol managed to reach his position, they verified that the individual was not listed among the staff at the location.
The suspect admitted having entered through an open door and hidden in one of the rooms when the alarm was triggered. Subsequent inspection of the premises revealed damage to an interior door consistent with an attempted breach into another section of the establishment. The detainee also admitted to smashing the windows of the parked vehicle outside with a stone, intending to shelter inside.
Officers proceeded to detain him as the alleged perpetrator of one offence of robbery using force against property and another of attempted robbery from inside a vehicle, both in the attempted stage.
