The National Police detained a 51-year-old man at Seville airport who was concealing more than one hundred cocaine capsules inside his body, with a total weight of approximately one and a half kilogrammes. The detention took place as part of the so-called Operation Conakry, a police operation aimed at preventing the entry of narcotics through Seville airport. Officers directed their attention towards the passenger after detecting several suspicious indicators during routine checks.
The man had travelled from Guinea-Conakry with a previous stopover in Morocco. Given suspicion that he might be transporting drugs inside his body, he was taken to a hospital to undergo radiological tests. The examinations confirmed the presence of more than one hundred capsules.
Once expelled, the analyses determined that the contents totalled approximately one and a half kilogrammes of cocaine. The detainee remained admitted to hospital to complete the process, given the serious risk to health and life that this method of transport entails.
After receiving medical discharge and concluding police proceedings, he was brought before a judge. The judge ordered his remand in custody.
