More than twenty arrests since January for vehicle thefts in Palma
The National Police have arrested a man of Senegalese origin accused of stealing from inside two vehicles parked on public roads in Palma, according to forbes.es. One of the cars was located in the El Rafal neighbourhood.
In the early hours of last Saturday, the emergency services received two calls from citizens alerting them that a person had broken the rear window of a parked vehicle. The witnesses provided a physical description of the suspect to the Superior Police Headquarters of the Balearic Islands, which allowed several patrols to be deployed to the El Rafal area.
Officers located a man shortly afterwards whose characteristics matched those provided by the witnesses. Following the necessary checks, he was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of theft with force from inside a vehicle.
Investigators also determined that the same individual had committed another theft with force days earlier: on that occasion he likewise broke the window of a car and took 100 euros in cash from inside.
The arrested man has accumulated more than twenty arrests since the beginning of the year, the majority for criminal acts of a similar nature.
