Navarre's Guardia Civil arrested a 49-year-old Spanish national in Sangüesa as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health for drug trafficking, according to cadenaser.com. Officers seized speed, cocaine, hashish and marijuana distributed in various packages, as well as 890 euros in cash.
The events took place when a citizen security patrol on duty on the NA-2420 spotted a van whose occupants were making suspicious movements. Officers ordered the vehicle to stop in order to identify its two occupants.
During the search, the Civil Guard officers detected a strong smell of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. A surface search of the driver revealed several packages containing substances that appeared to correspond to speed, cocaine, hashish and marijuana. An additional quantity of marijuana was found among the rest of his possessions.
The subsequent weighing of the seized substances produced the following results: 132 grammes of speed, 31 grammes of hashish, 18 grammes of cocaine and 13 grammes of marijuana.
The distribution of the substances in small doses and separate packages, together with the other evidence observed during the operation, prompted the arrest of the driver. Two mobile phones were also seized. The van, the cash and the other seized items were placed at the disposal of the courts.
