Man arrested in Sangüesa with four types of drug distributed in small packages

The Guardia Civil of Navarre detained a 49-year-old Spanish national on 23 August as a suspected perpetrator of a crime against public health for drug trafficking, according to diariodenavarra.es.

The arrest took place when a citizen security patrol serving in Sangüesa observed a van with suspicious movements circulating along the NA-2420 road. The officers signalled the vehicle to stop and identify its two occupants.

During the check, officers detected a strong smell of cannabis coming from inside the vehicle, which prompted the corresponding inspections. In a surface search of the driver, several packages containing substances apparently corresponding to speed, cocaine, hashish and cannabis were found, as well as 890 euros in cash. An additional quantity of cannabis was found amongst the detainee's belongings.

Subsequent weighing of the seized substances yielded approximately 132 grammes of speed, 31 grammes of hashish, 18 grammes of cocaine and 13 grammes of cannabis.

The distribution of the substances in small doses and different packages, together with the rest of the evidence observed during the operation, formed the basis for the driver's detention. Officers also seized two mobile phones. The van, the cash and the rest of the confiscated items were left at the disposal of the judicial authorities.
