Arrest in Torrejón following chest stabbing during dispute over jewellery
The Policía Nacional arrested a man in Torrejón de Ardoz accused of attempting to kill another man whom he allegedly stabbed in the region of the heart, according to elmundo.es. The origin of the attack was reportedly a dispute related to the alleged theft of several items of jewellery belonging to the arrested man's family.
The incident took place on 10 August, at around 03.30 hours. A unit of the Policía Nacional was sent by the CIMACC 091 control room to a property in the Madrid municipality following a report of a stabbing. Upon arriving at the building, officers found a man lying outside the entrance, accompanied by two other people who confirmed he had been attacked with a sharp weapon.
The victim had an incised wound in the region of the heart and his shirt was covered in blood. The police officers provided first aid whilst awaiting the arrival of emergency services. He was urgently transferred to a hospital in serious condition.
Whilst attending to the wounded man, officers learned that the alleged assailant was in his own residence, located in the same building. The police officers went to that location, taking extra security measures in case he was carrying a weapon, and proceeded to restrain and arrest him.
According to information provided by the Policía Nacional, the arrested man admitted to the officers that he had stabbed the other man. Initial investigations suggest that the assault was preceded by a confrontation linked to the accusation that the victim had taken several items of jewellery from the arrested man's family.
When inspecting the property where the attack allegedly occurred, officers found various pieces of evidence related to the incident. The man was arrested on suspicion of attempted homicide and was subsequently brought before the judicial authorities.
