Arrest in Vigo following discovery of body in Ponteareas
A man was detained on Sunday at Álvaro Cunqueiro Hospital in Vigo for allegedly murdering his mother, an octogenarian woman, with a knife in the municipality of Ponteareas (Pontevedra), according to lasexta.com.
The arrest took place at the hospital itself, where the suspect received medical attention and subsequently confessed to the crime to the authorities.
Following the confession, Civil Guard officers travelled to the scene, on Rúa dos Carballos in Ponteareas, and located the woman's body at approximately 14:30 on Sunday.
Sources from the investigation indicated to EFE that the alleged perpetrator of the crime had a history of psychiatric disorders. The Civil Guard is continuing to investigate the circumstances of the incident, classified as a gender-based crime.
