Arrest in Zaragoza for sexual assault on daughter and distribution of material in the cloud
The National Police arrested a man in Zaragoza accused of sexually assaulting his two-year-old daughter and sharing images on the Internet, according to interior.gob.es. The operation was completed within 24 hours of receiving the initial alerts. The detainee was remanded in custody as the alleged perpetrator of two counts of sexual assault, one count of child corruption and another against privacy.
The investigation was triggered after receiving several urgent reports submitted by the American organisation National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), channelled through the United States Department of Homeland Security (Homeland Security Investigations). The alerts indicated several files stored on a cloud storage platform showing signs of serious crimes against a minor.
Investigators determined that the alleged perpetrator was the child's father and that both lived at the same address. Once the risk situation was confirmed, officers immediately travelled to the property, where they proceeded to arrest the suspect and placed the minor under protection.
Computing devices and material seized
During the search of the property, numerous computing devices were seized. Analysis of them confirmed the possession, distribution and production of child sexual exploitation material, allegedly generated, stored and distributed by the detainee.
The investigation also made it possible to locate artificial intelligence tools allegedly used to create child sexual exploitation images from photographs and videos of minors obtained from social networks.
Secret recordings of a neighbour
In addition to material related to the minor, officers found video files that would constitute a crime against privacy: the investigated person allegedly made secret recordings from his property towards the adjoining house, capturing images of a neighbour inside her home.
Once the investigation was completed, the detainee was placed at the disposal of the courts, which ordered his remand in custody.
