Father detained in Zaragoza for sexual abuse of his two-year-old daughter and distribution of images
The National Police have arrested a man in Zaragoza accused of sexually assaulting his two-year-old daughter and sharing images on the Internet, according to El Mundo. The operation was completed within 24 hours of receiving the initial alerts.
The investigation began after receiving urgent reports from the American organisation National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), channelled through the United States Department of Homeland Security (Homeland Security Investigations). The alerts referred to files hosted on a cloud storage platform that pointed to the commission of serious crimes against a minor, with indications that the perpetrator resided in Spain and maintained permanent access to the victim.
Investigators immediately identified the alleged perpetrator as the child's father and confirmed that both lived at the same address. Given the risk situation, officers travelled to the locality without delay and proceeded with his detention.
During a search of the home, the minor was placed under police protection. Officers seized various digital devices whose analysis revealed abundant material related to child sexual exploitation, allegedly produced, stored and distributed by the detainee.
The investigation also made it possible to locate artificial intelligence tools allegedly used to generate child sexual exploitation images through manipulation of photographs and videos of minors obtained from social networks.
Officers also found video files that would evidence clandestine recordings made from the investigated person's home towards the neighbouring dwelling, where images were captured of a female neighbour inside her house, which would constitute a crime against privacy.
Once proceedings were concluded, the detainee was brought before the courts as the alleged perpetrator of two counts of sexual assault, one count of child corruption and one count against privacy. The judge ordered his remand in custody.
