Arrested within 24 hours following alerts from US agencies

A man has been arrested in Zaragoza accused of sexually assaulting his two-year-old daughter and distributing images of the abuse online, according to cadenaser.com. The police intervention was completed within 24 hours of the National Police receiving the initial alerts.

The investigation was launched following reports submitted by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), channelled through the United States Department of Homeland Security. Officers identified the alleged perpetrator, verified that he lived with the minor and activated an urgent intervention given the risk to the child.

During a search of the residence, officers placed the minor under protection and seized numerous computing devices. Analysis of these revealed substantial material linked to child sexual exploitation, as well as the alleged production, storage and distribution of such content by the arrested man.

Investigators also found artificial intelligence tools that allegedly were being used to generate unlawful images from photographs extracted from social media networks. Recordings were also discovered that had been made of a neighbour from inside the residence.

The detained man was brought before the courts. The judge ordered his remand in custody on suspicion of the offences of sexual assault, corruption of a minor and violation of privacy.
