Three charges against driver arrested over death of motorcyclist in Villares de la Reina
A man was arrested on Friday following an accident that occurred in the early hours on the N-620, at the level of Villares de la Reina (Salamanca), in which a 30-year-old motorcyclist died. According to Google News ES — Crime (es), the Government Subdelegation has confirmed that the arrested man is accused of three offences: manslaughter through negligence, leaving the scene of the accident, and driving under the influence of alcohol.
The accident took place at around six o'clock in the morning at kilometre 231 of the N-620, the Burgos-Portugal road. A car collided with a motorcycle from behind, causing the death of the motorcycle's driver. The two occupants of the car were unharmed.
Following the impact, the vehicle involved left the scene. Some time later, both individuals returned to the location, but in a different car, according to details provided by the Subdelegation in a press release sent on Saturday.
The investigation was handled by officers from the Traffic Investigation and Analysis Group (GIAT) and the Ciudad Rodrigo Civil Guard unit, whose inquiries led to the driver's arrest that same Friday.
The Government Subdelegation detailed the sentences the arrested man faces in the event of conviction: one to four years in prison and a fine of 12 to 24 months for manslaughter through negligence; six months to four years in prison for abandoning the scene of the accident; and three to six months in prison for driving with alcohol levels exceeding the legal limits.
