Pursuit and arrest on the A-92
According to El Confidencial, a man was arrested in Huéneja, north of Granada, following a 30-kilometre pursuit on the A-92 motorway on the night of 7 October. Local police officers from Guadix were attempting to identify him over an alleged attempted sexual assault when the driver accelerated and performed dangerous manoeuvres on the road.
During the flight, the vehicle endangered both the police officers and other drivers using the motorway. The Civil Guard assisted in the pursuit, which concluded with the arrest of the suspect in the municipality of Huéneja. An officer was injured during the operation.
Charges against the suspect
The Local Police attributed offences of reckless driving, assault against law enforcement, and battery to him. No further details were provided regarding the alleged sexual assault that prompted the initial operation.
In a statement published on social media, the Guadix Local Police used the incident to issue an appeal regarding safety in internet dating. It recommended informing a trusted person, maintaining initial meetings in public places and seeking help in any situation of risk.
