Anti-drug operation in La Coruña: more than 1,500 kilos of cocaine confiscated

The National Police arrested at least three people on Saturday and seized more than 1,500 kilos of cocaine in A Pobra do Caramiñal (La Coruña), according to Google News ES — Crime (es). The operation began in the early hours and continued throughout the day.

Officers deployed in the area carried out searches in a shed situated next to a ramp with direct access to the sea, in the vicinity of Ribeiriña and Conchido beach, very close to the boundary with the municipality of Boiro. Throughout the day, they extracted the drug shipment from the location.

The operation was executed by the Special Response Groups against Organised Crime (GRECO) of the National Police, although other police groups also participated in it, according to police sources. Late in the afternoon, officers and the judicial delegation were still working in the area.

Sources consulted by Europa Press indicate that the investigation is linked to the Os Fanchos clan. The operation remained open at the close of reporting, so both the number of those arrested and the quantity of drugs seized could vary in the final tally. No further details about the development of the case have emerged.

Earlier this month, an anti-drug operation in Muxía (A Coruña) resulted in 26 arrests — 23 of them in preventive custody — including a Civil Guard officer. In that intervention, the Efe agency recalled, more than 1,600 kilos of cocaine were confiscated when the drug was being unloaded on Arnela beach.
