According to lasexta.com, the programme Equipo de Investigación travelled to Ceuta to document how criminal organisations recruit young people as "mules" to introduce Rivotril into Morocco, where the anxiolytic is highly coveted.
The report includes testimony from several young people who describe "Karkubi", a drug made from this medication. "It gives you a high, you feel like you could take on the world," one of them recounts when asked about its effects.
Another young person admits to consuming Rivotril "daily" and claims to obtain it directly "from the street". In Ceuta, a tablet can cost one euro; in Morocco, the price increases significantly. "A box of Rivotril is gold," a third young person states, noting that a single tablet can reach five euros on the other side of the border.
The price differential between both sides explains, according to the testimonies collected, the appeal that this trafficking has for those who act as transporters.
