Doctor arrested in Marbella after nurse dies from suspected drug overdose
A doctor has been arrested in Marbella after a 56-year-old nurse died in a hotel room following the suspected ingestion of potent pharmaceutical drugs.

Death in hotel following prescription medication
According to The Olive Press, a 66-year-old doctor has been arrested in Marbella following the death of a fellow nurse colleague found in a hotel room. The victim, aged 56, died presumably as a result of ingesting potent prescription medication, according to La Opinión de Málaga.
Both professionals worked at Hospital Costa del Sol, the main public hospital serving the western coast of Marbella. The National Police confirmed the death and proceeded with the arrest of the doctor whilst investigating whether drugs were stolen from the workplace.
Discovery in industrial zone
Emergency teams discovered the death on Thursday evening at a small hotel located in the La Ermita industrial estate in eastern Marbella. Sources close to the case revealed that officers recovered morphine hydrochloride, a potent opioid painkiller, and propofol, an intravenous anaesthetic commonly used in hospital surgical procedures.
Ongoing investigation
Forensic specialists from the Institute of Legal Medicine are carrying out an autopsy to establish the exact cause and time of death. Investigators are working to determine whether there was theft of medication from the hospital institution.
