Most wanted German trafficker detained in Málaga following months of surveillance
Spain's National Police arrested the drug trafficker most wanted by German authorities in Málaga on 24 August, according to ABC. The operation was carried out in collaboration with the German Federal Criminal Investigation Office (BKA) and resulted in the detainee being remanded in custody following his appearance before the National Court.
The fugitive was subject to a European Arrest Warrant (EAW) for drug trafficking and organised crime, as well as a judicial requisition issued in Spain.
The investigation began in 2025, when Spain's National Police received information that the suspect could be located in Spanish territory, a country where he had previously resided. His criminal network operated from here: in Spain, the organisation had a warehouse from which they loaded drugs into lorries bound for Germany, crossing through France.
The detainee had developed an elaborate system to escape justice. He changed his telephone number every two weeks and his identity every three months. In the past he also completed a cybersecurity course in Turkey, which provided him with tools to avoid being traced through electronic devices, social media and operating systems. He was also an expert in boxing and mixed martial arts.
The turning point in the investigation came when officers located his brother. From that moment on, surveillance was intensified across various Spanish provinces, including Málaga. Shortly afterwards, investigators confirmed that the fugitive travelled as a co-driver in his brother's vehicle. It was then that he was arrested.
