Blow to drug trafficking in the Ría de Arousa with 1,500 kilos of cocaine seized
Approximately 1,500 kilos of cocaine were seized on Saturday in A Pobra do Caramiñal, in the province of A Coruña, according to information provided by Google News ES — Crime (es) citing sources close to the investigation consulted by EFE.
The operation focused on buildings located next to a ramp with direct access to the sea in the Ribeiriña area and O Conchido beach, in the Ría de Arousa. The intervention was led by the National Police, specifically by the Special Response Groups Against Organised Crime (GRECO), with the collaboration of other police units.
The operation remains open pending confirmation of the final number of arrests—at least three—and the exact weight of the seized drugs, estimated at around 1,500 kilos.
The operation comes weeks after another anti-drug intervention in Muxía, also in the province of A Coruña, in which 26 people were arrested, 23 of whom were remanded in custody. Among those arrested on that occasion was a Civil Guard officer. That operation resulted in the seizure of more than 1,600 kilos of cocaine when the drugs were being unloaded on Arnela beach.
