A court in the Jaén municipality has remanded in custody two of the 22 arrested in a raid against drug trafficking in which National Police officers are implicated.

A total of 22 people have been arrested in a large-scale operation against drug trafficking deployed in the province of Jaén. Last Wednesday, officers from the Internal Affairs Unit carried out simultaneous raids in the Arrayanes neighbourhood and in facilities belonging to the National Police. Among those detained are four members of the Narcotics Unit of the Linares police station.
The judge of Instruction Court number 1 of Linares questioned 18 of those arrested during Friday. The magistrate ordered provisional imprisonment, with notification and no possibility of bail for two of them. The other 16 were released with precautionary measures. The offences attributed to them include trafficking in illicit substances and being part of a criminal structure dedicated to drug trafficking.
The four police officers involved have not yet appeared before the judge. Their statement, initially scheduled for Friday afternoon, has been postponed until Saturday. Friday morning was dedicated to the appearances of six arrested persons; in the afternoon there were a further twelve. The Linares courts recorded a notable presence of police officers throughout the day.
The investigation focuses on several gangs operating in Linares, Linares-Baeza Station, and nearby localities. The National Police Corps has opted not to provide further information about the operation, which remains active and could lead to further arrests.
