Anti-drug operation in Son Banya demolishes nine illegal sales points
The National Police and Local Police of Palma carried out a new operation in the Son Banya settlement on Friday afternoon, according to reports. Around 80 officers from both forces were deployed to demolish nine structures that drug traffickers had erected illegally and which functioned as active sales points.
The operation was directed by the National Police's Drug and Organised Crime Unit. More than 50 officers from various units of the Provincial Judicial Police Brigade, the Drug and Organised Crime Unit and the Prevention and Response Unit participated in the operation, alongside 30 officers from the Palma Local Police. The latter focused on urban planning violations, whilst the national officers coordinated the anti-drug aspect.
During the operation, officers seized various quantities of marijuana, hashish, heroin and cocaine, as well as more than 2,500 euros in cash and erectile dysfunction medications. The nine shacks demolished by Palma City Council violated municipal urban planning regulations.
Police sources confirmed that no arrests were made during the intervention.
