National Police and Madrid Municipal Police arrested four people in the Tetuán district on the past Sunday, two of them minors, following a brawl that started aboard a coach operating the route between Benidorm and the capital, according to El Mundo. The detainees, of Moroccan and South American origin, are aged between 17 and 43 years old and are accused of unlawful possession of weapons and threats.
The incident occurred on 30 August, when two men travelling in the vehicle started an argument that escalated during the journey from the Alicante locality. At one point, one of those involved drew a large machete in front of the other passengers, according to information provided by both police forces.
Upon arrival in Madrid, the man who allegedly brandished the weapon got off the coach along with three other people. The passengers alerted police services and provided a description that allowed a search operation to be activated in the area. Shortly afterwards, several National Police and Municipal Police officers located a group in Tetuán whose characteristics matched those of the suspects.
During the search, officers seized a machete with a blade of approximately 45 centimetres, as well as two knives with blades of 19 and 12 centimetres respectively. The four suspects were arrested as suspected perpetrators of unlawful possession of weapons and threats and, once police proceedings concluded, were handed over to the judicial authority.
