Police checkpoint in Carcastillo ends in hospitalisation
According to El Confidencial, officers from the Policía Foral attached to the Tafalla Station concluded a night of operations in the Zona Media and Ribera Alta. During a public safety checkpoint in Carcastillo, a person attempted to evade officers and ingested a large bag of drug to conceal it.
The risk of the wrapping rupturing in the stomach necessitated her immediate transfer to Tudela Hospital. The Policía Foral warns that if a package of those dimensions breaks, the substance is released massively into the body, with the possibility of causing a fatal overdose.
In the same operation, three drivers tested positive on oral drug tests, so their vehicles were immobilised. Officers seized three doses of cocaine with a combined weight of 4.2 grammes.
Patrols continued active surveillance during the early hours at other points in the district. In Marcilla, four charges were filed for disobedience and unlawful possession of narcotics. In Carcastillo, two further charges were filed for possession of drugs in a public place.
