Operation against drug trafficking in Gijón
Gijón Local Police arrested two people—aged 65 and 53—on Tuesday accused of drug trafficking at Floristería Barbe, located between Calle Gaspar García Laviana and Calle Río Muni. According to El Confidencial, the arrests were the result of an extended surveillance operation that began following complaints from neighbours and administrative violations detected months earlier.
During the operation, officers intercepted the owner as he approached the business with suspicious behaviour after noticing the police presence. A superficial search revealed two bags containing half a gramme each of powdered substance and 165 euros in mixed banknotes. The detainee had previous records for drug trafficking offences.
Local Police requested reinforcements and inspected the interior of the establishment. In the back room they located several bags with powdered substance, a precision scale, scissors and other dosage utensils. The manager was identified and searched.
The operation was expanded to two additional businesses at numbers 3 and 4 on Calle Río Muni, where they found plastic remnants with characteristics similar to those from the florist and administrative violations. The three establishments were sealed off and placed under judicial custody with police protection until the arrival of the National Police.
