Alicante Local Police seize 50,000 counterfeit products valued at two million euros
Alicante Local Police seized more than 50,000 counterfeit articles in July and August. Thirteen arrests were made and 587 reports were filed for alcohol consumption on the street.

According to reports from Google News ES — Crime (es), Alicante Local Police have seized more than 50,000 counterfeit products during the months of July and August, items that on the market would reach a value exceeding two million euros. The operations were carried out in collaboration with Port Police and were directed against illegal street vending, popularly known as 'top manta'.
As part of these operations, 13 arrests were made for offences against industrial property. Among the seized articles are t-shirts and clothing, jewellery, handbags and mobile phone cases.
The Security councillor, Julio Calero, emphasised that operations against the sale of counterfeits and alcohol consumption in public places are maintained throughout the year, although they are intensified in summer. "During this period we strengthen the operations and interventions to guarantee security and compliance with regulations," Calero stated.
Surveillance was concentrated especially on the seafront, the port promenade and square, areas with the highest tourist influx during the summer. The most significant intervention of the period took place on 30 August in the port square, where more than 3,000 counterfeit products were seized from both street stalls and authorised sales points.
Parallel to this, the special operation against alcohol consumption on the street recorded 587 reports filed by Local Police throughout July and August.
