Villarreal goalkeeper Gulacsi robbed at home before Champions League
Peter Gulacsi, goalkeeper for Villarreal, was the victim of an armed robbery at his own home whilst with his family. He will miss the Champions League match against Napoli due to the shock he suffered.

Armed robbery at goalkeeper's home
Peter Gulacsi, goalkeeper for Villarreal, was robbed at gunpoint during the night of Tuesday at his residence in Puçol, Valencia province. According to Il Fatto Quotidiano - Cronaca, the footballer was at home with his wife and two young children when the armed intrusion took place. No family member was physically injured, but the psychological shock was such that it prevented him from taking the field.
The Spanish club confirmed what happened and made public the fact that the robbery took place in the early hours of Tuesday morning in the Monasterios residential area. The authorities were informed immediately and launched an investigation to reconstruct the sequence of events and identify those responsible. At present, no further details have been released regarding the identity of the perpetrators or any items that may have been stolen.
The trauma forced Villarreal to do without its starting goalkeeper for the Champions League match against Napoli at La Cerámica stadium. Luiz Júnior, the team's Brazilian goalkeeper, replaced him on the field. According to Il Fatto Quotidiano - Cronaca, in recent years several footballers in Spanish football have been victims of similar crimes. In February 2024 Étienne Capoue, then Villarreal midfielder, suffered a burglary attempt at his own home whilst dining with his family. Similar incidents have also affected former Valencia players.
