Remand in custody ordered for man accused of stabbing woman at job interview in Carcaixent
A 33-year-old Colombian man was arrested in Valencia after stabbing a 44-year-old woman who was attending a job interview for a carer position in Carcaixent.

The Court of First Instance in Alzira, no. 5, has ordered remand in custody for the alleged perpetrator of the stabbing of a 44-year-old woman of Peruvian origin, according to levante-emv.com. The victim had attended a job interview on Monday for a position as a carer for an elderly person in Carcaixent and was found by neighbours injured and calling for help at night in the Pujada de Maseres, a rural area near the municipal cemetery.
The Judicial Police unit of the Guardia Civil took over the investigation and located the suspect in Valencia city, where he had fled following the assault. He was arrested on Tuesday evening, less than 24 hours after the incident. The accused, aged 33 and of Colombian nationality, who previously served in the Colombian army, is under investigation for attempted murder.
The court has endorsed the thesis of the Guardia Civil investigators, who identified premeditation in the attack, which justifies the initial classification of the offence. The victim sustained five stab wounds; one of the stabbings struck her neck and could have had fatal consequences. Several wounds were located on her hands, resulting from the woman's attempts to defend herself, and could compromise mobility in those limbs. The knife broke during the assault.
The arrested man appeared before the judge on Friday and the judicial authority immediately ordered remand in custody. The motive for the assault remains unknown, although investigators have been able to confirm that the accused contacted the victim through an advertisement in which she was offering her services as a carer.
