Drug trafficking network in A Coruña: three sales points between Os Mallos and Sagrada Familia

Three drug sales hubs form a route between Cuatro Caminos and Sagrada Familia
According to Google News ES — Crime (es), the Sagrada Familia neighbourhood of A Coruña experienced a protest last Friday that brought together around 50 residents outside number 11 on the street of the same name, where two brothers are identified as drug traffickers. Some protesters threw stones and fences at the building. Police evacuated the suspects to prevent a lynching and the flat has remained closed since then.
The Sagrada Familia point does not operate in isolation. Sources consulted by the outlet confirm that this location is linked to two others in the Os Mallos neighbourhood: one at number 58 on Calle Vizcaya and another at number 13 on Calle Ramón Cabanillas. The three form part of the same route whose central hub is located in Cuatro Caminos, an area where consumers congregate before moving from point to point.
Of the three hubs, the one in Sagrada Familia is the most busy and, for this reason, the most conflictive.
A police operation in 2025 already detected the network
The Udyco — Drug and Organised Crime Unit — had already identified these three points and launched an operation in May of last year to dismantle the network. The intervention resulted in five arrests: three men and two women, all under investigation for offences against public health.
In the three house searches, significant quantities of money, prohibited weapons, tools for handling narcotics and drugs prepared for retail sale were seized. Two electric scooters used by those arrested to carry out rapid deliveries were also seized.
Continuing incidents and a crime in 2022
The activity of drug users in the area generates recurring episodes. On 21 July last, residents alerted police to the presence of a 30-year-old woman, intoxicated and naked in the street. Officers requested an ambulance to assist her. "Drugs continue to plague the Os Mallos area," stated an officer on patrol.
The most serious case recorded to date took place in November 2022 at number 58 Calle Vizcaya. Two drug users killed a third in a settling of accounts over money in one of the rooms of the flat, which functioned as a kind of hostel for users. The dispute started on Calle Alcalde Marchesi, in Cuatro Caminos, and ended fatally on Vizcaya, confirming that the so-called "junkies' route" — a term used by police — already existed at that time.
Violence on that level is, however, an exception. Robberies and fights constitute the usual pattern of incidents. Residents also warn of a noticeable deterioration in the situation since crack cocaine use has spread among drug users in the area.
Residents at breaking point after years of protests
Neighbourhood exasperation has translated into several mobilisations over the past few years: pot-banging protests outside the flat on Calle Vizcaya and gatherings around Sagrada Familia. Friday's protest, with broken windows and direct threats, has been the most violent to date and reflects the exhaustion of residents facing a problem that continues without visible solution.
