Officers from the Local Police in O Porriño rescued a man trapped inside a burning property on Calle Lugo last Tuesday, after 17:00 hours, according to lavozdegalicia.es. Following the operation, the rescued man was arrested at the hospital after it was established that several court arrest warrants were outstanding against him, including an order for imprisonment.
The victim's mother, who was waiting outside the building, alerted police that her son remained inside. Given the immediate risk, the officers forced the door and entered the property. Once inside, they located the man and extracted him so he could receive medical assistance.
During the intervention, the presence of ammonia was detected inside, which increased the level of exposure to toxic gases. Several of the police officers who participated in the rescue had to be transferred to Hospital Povisa in Vigo to receive medical attention for smoke and gas inhalation.
The rescued man was evacuated to Hospital Álvaro Cunqueiro. Once his identity was verified, National Police officers proceeded to arrest him after ensuring he received the necessary medical care. Among the warrants outstanding against him was an arrest order and an order for imprisonment.
