The National Police have dismantled a criminal group allegedly involved in cocaine trafficking across several municipalities in La Safor, according to cadenaser.com. The operation resulted in six arrests—one woman and five men aged between 28 and 60—five of whom have been remanded in custody. The detainees face charges of drug trafficking and membership of a criminal organisation.
During searches, officers seized 300 grammes of cocaine, a firearm, two edged weapons, ammunition cartridges, six scales, several packaging machines, cutting agents, three mobile phones, three vehicles and 180 euros in cash.
The investigation, directed by the Local Judicial Police Unit at Gandía Police Station, began in April when investigators detected that three members of the same family were acting in a coordinated manner with two other individuals to distribute cocaine in the region.
A key moment in the operation occurred when officers located one of the main suspects in Gandía at the wheel of a vehicle. Inside they found the 300 grammes of cocaine distributed in bags of different sizes, which led to their immediate arrest and the seizure of the vehicle.
Following that discovery, investigators requested judicial authorisation to search a property that the group allegedly used to store and distribute drugs. In that search, the remainder of the seized material was found, including the firearm, edged weapons, ammunition and drug-handling equipment.
The operation also involved members of the Canine Unit of the Superior Police Headquarters of the Valencian Community and officers from the Local Civic Security Unit at Gandía Police Station.
