National Police arrested three people and dismantled a cannabis plantation located inside a property in Elda (Alicante), according to alicanteplaza.es citing a police statement released this Saturday.
Officers seized 200 cannabis plants, more than 8,500 grams of the substance and around €10,000 in cash. The three arrested men are aged between 21 and 24 and are accused of drug trafficking and electricity fraud. One of them has been remanded in custody by court order.
The investigation began following complaints from neighbours who reported the possible existence of an indoor cultivation at the property. From there, officers established surveillance and obtained evidence of cannabis cultivation and the alleged involvement of the property residents and a third person.
During a search of the premises, officers confirmed the presence of complete hydroponic infrastructure: transformers, extraction systems, air conditioning units and numerous lighting arrays, all illegally connected to the electrical network.
Once proceedings were concluded, the three arrested individuals were brought before the duty examining courts in Elda, which ordered one of them to be remanded in custody.
