Assault at Magaluf bar results in two arrests

A 37-year-old Scottish tourist was detained by the Guardia Civil after assaulting a man who allegedly sexually harassed his partner in the bathroom of a bar in Magaluf on Sunday. According to The Olive Press, the incident occurred around 8 a.m. at a venue on Avenida s'Olivera.

A 30-year-old Scottish woman was in the restroom when a 45-year-old Moroccan man touched her inappropriately without consent. The woman's companion responded by striking the alleged harasser several times in the face.

The Moroccan man was taken to the health centre in Santa Ponça and subsequently to Son Espases Hospital in Palma, where he required several stitches for wounds around the eye area and lost a tooth as a result of the blows. The Guardia Civil also detained him on charges of sexual assault.

The alleged aggressor denied any inappropriate conduct towards the Scottish woman. He claimed he was in the bathroom when two women and a man opened the door, and that he asked them why they were attempting to enter without permission. According to his account, one of the women threw a drink in his face.

The man left the bar, but the Scottish tourist pursued him and struck him until he lost consciousness, according to Última Hora. Both remain at the disposal of the authorities following the incidents.
