Mass deportation from Ceuta following July incursions and sexual assault cases

Spanish Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska has revealed, according to Hespress, that Spanish authorities deported over 100 migrants from the city of Ceuta following crimes committed in the wake of the mass incursion wave that the city witnessed in late July.

The minister clarified that the competent authorities recorded 17 sexual assaults, including seven cases classified legally as rape offences, whilst the remaining ten cases fall under the category of sexual assault without penetration.

The mass incursion wave in July brought its security and legal repercussions to the city, as Spanish authorities proceeded to implement immediate deportation procedures against migrants detained on criminal charges, within the framework of reinforcing the security control system at the borders.

The minister did not disclose full details relating to the numbers of remaining detainees or the outcome of legal proceedings underway against the deported individuals.
