The District Court of East Uusimaa has convicted a young man of 11.5 years in prison for murder. The perpetrator was diagnosed with antisocial conduct disorder and antisocial personality disorder.
15-year-old convicted of 11.5 years in prison for Pyhtää murder – diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder
The District Court of East Uusimaa has convicted a young man to 11 years and six months imprisonment for murder. The crime took place in Heinlahti, Pyhtää, in early November 2023. The perpetrator was 15 years old at the time of the offence.
The accused drove a personal car that he had taken without permission to the victim's home in the middle of the night. He broke into the house through an unlocked back door and attacked the victim in the bedroom. The victim fled outside, but the perpetrator caught him in the yard and continued beating him with a sharp weapon on the head and torso dozens of times. The man died from his injuries at the scene.
Police arrested the suspect in February 2025. He initially admitted to the act, but later denied it and claimed an unknown person had murdered the victim. The District Court did not believe this account.
In a psychiatric assessment, the perpetrator was found to be criminally responsible. However, he was diagnosed with antisocial conduct disorder and antisocial personality disorder. These did not, however, show that he had not acted intentionally.
In addition to murder, the court convicted the man of aggravated violation of home privacy and operating a vehicle without a licence. He must pay the victim's relatives over 40,000 euros and the state nearly 3,700 euros in costs. The sentence is not final.
