22-year-old man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in Ylöjärvi
Pirkanmaa District Court ordered the arrest on Wednesday of a 22-year-old man from Tampere. He is suspected of attempted murder. The man participated in the hearing via remote connection.
The suspect has admitted to striking another person with a bladed weapon in Pimeesalmi, Ylöjärvi, during the weekend. The act was accompanied by a violent brawl.
Heikki Järnström, crime commissioner for Inner Finland police, states that the weapon used was a knife. It is now in the possession of the authorities.
Investigation has established that the weapon was in the suspect's possession at the time of the incident. Two other individuals were taken into custody on Monday, but they have been released. According to Järnström, their involvement has proved to be minor or has been ruled out.
Police have already interviewed the assault victim and will do so again. No further information has been provided regarding the victim's injuries.
The investigation will proceed with further interviews and technical examinations. A decision on prosecution is to be made by the beginning of September at the latest.
Another violent incident also occurred in the same locality the previous night. Police are investigating it as aggravated assault and other assault offences.
