Police stopped a woman with a driving ban on Sunday in Ulvila on Highway 2. The woman had consumed substantial quantities of alcohol before getting behind the wheel.
The patrol tested the driver, and the breathalyser showed readings of 2 promille. Authorities suspect the woman committed aggravated drunk driving and also drove a vehicle without authorisation.
Aggravated drunk driving is established under criminal law when a driver's blood alcohol content is at least 1.2 promille. The penalty can be a fine or imprisonment of up to six months. Driving whilst under a driving ban is a separate offence that can result in additional punishment.
