Karf family still missing – police receive hundreds of tip-offs without results
The Karf family has been missing for over two years, and police do not know where they are. The preliminary investigation cannot progress until the family is found.
Investigation stalled – no information about family
Iltalehti reported that the Karf family remains untraced more than two years after their disappearance. Ostrobothnia police state in their announcement that the preliminary investigation cannot progress until the family members can be found and heard.
"Police currently have no information about where the family might be. The family may be staying in Finland or abroad. Police also do not know whether the family members are together in the same location or separated from one another," police state in their announcement.
Parents Karoliina and Tommy Karf took seven children from a child protection unit in May 2024. Following this, the family has, according to certain information, given birth to an eighth child. Both parents have been remanded in custody in absentia, and the entire family has been placed on a wanted list.
Police suspect the parents of seven counts of aggravated assault, seven counts of aggravated unlawful confinement, and unauthorised child custody.
Police have received hundreds of tip-offs, most of which have come from Finland and a few from abroad. However, the verification of tip-offs and police searches have not yielded results.
