A dangerous pursuit was witnessed in North Savo on Wednesday morning, which began in Siilinjärvi and ended in Lapinlahti. A sixty-year-old local man was at the wheel of the car.

The situation began at around five in the morning, when a police patrol conducted an inspection of traffic travelling northbound on a motorway. The patrol attempted to stop a private car, but the driver pressed the accelerator to the floor and refused to obey the command.

The chase lasted from Siilinjärvi all the way to Lapinlahti, where authorities had managed to set up a spike strip on the road. This forced the vehicle to stop.

Police took the persons in the car into custody. During the arrest, the man used physical violence and kicked one of the patrol members.

No accidents or damage to bystanders were avoided throughout the situation.

The suspected male is being investigated for drink-driving, serious traffic safety endangerment, and violent resistance of a public official.
