On Friday, a summer cottage resident returned to his building in Kuopio's Kaislastenlahti and unexpectedly came across an unknown foreign national man inside. The man immediately fled and took the owner's mobile phone with him.
Authorities report that the stolen phone was later traced. However, the suspected individual remains at large.
Several units have been dispatched to the area around von Wright school. A drone operating from the air and a four-legged service partner have also been used. The area is heavily forested countryside, which provides good opportunities to evade apprehension.
Police have now moved to appealing for public tips about the man. He is approximately 165 centimetres tall, of foreign national background, and has dark hair. He was wearing tracksuit clothes and is likely to have been travelling by bicycle.
